The Internet
is offering a new era of communication and services. At present, there
are over 259 million Internet users worldwide and there will be at least
510 million by 2003. When traveling, these users face many difficulties
to access the Internet. We want to offer these travelers full communication
capabilities with our Automated Internet Access Kiosks, placed in
easy to reach locations, at a low price, and on a convenient self-service
basis.
When away
from their offices and homes, travelers have been using public telephones
for decades. In recent years, the fax machine has emerged as a primary
tool for business communication. At present, e-mail messages are fast
becoming the main business and leisure communication option.
The US
interactive kiosk market reached $369.7 million in 1996 and is expected
to grow to $2.94 billion by 2003. This represents a 35% annual growth
rate.
Most major
airports and hotels provide limited services in a business center, as
well as some telephone jacks to plug in laptop computers. However, considering
todays airport and hotel sizes, the walking distance to reach
these facilities may be considerable. These centers are usually open
only during the day, and they are not as conveniently located as public
telephones generally are.
Cellular
phones are becoming very popular; covering larger areas as time progresses.
All sorts of electronic gadgets, -"e-mail capable" - are being
introduced into the marketplace in addition to affordable notebooks.
However, these devices have many drawbacks such as small keyboards.
They are kept in suitcases that need to be opened. They need to be connected
to power and telephone lines. They also need time to boot or recover
from "hibernation" before they begin to work. A simple task
becomes very time consuming. Connections and devices may be difficult
to set up. Communication is still limited in range, by the current available
features.
Netyou
Kiosks are fast, convenient, and available 24 hours a day.
